Expectations Soar for OKC Thunder 2024 Season
The Oklahoma City Thunder are kicking off their highly anticipated 2024 season tonight in Denver, facing Nikola Jokic and the defending champions, the Denver Nuggets. After a promising playoff run last season, the Thunder have made key roster changes in hopes of a deeper postseason journey this year.
Key Offseason Changes for the Thunder
Gone is guard Josh Giddey, who struggled in the playoff series against Dallas. Replacing him is Alex Caruso, a seasoned NBA defender and a career 38% three-point shooter. His defensive prowess and shooting consistency are expected to boost OKC’s backcourt.
In addition, OKC addressed its rebounding issues by signing Knicks’ former center Isaiah Hartenstein, who averaged over 8 rebounds per game last season. Unfortunately, Hartenstein will miss the early part of the season due to a hand injury sustained in the preseason, but he’s expected to make a significant impact once he returns.
OKC's Championship Hopes
OKC enters the season as the favorite to represent the Western Conference in the NBA Finals. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (SGA) is a top contender for the MVP award, and both Jalen Williams and Chet Holmgren are poised for potential All-Star seasons. With high expectations and a talented roster, all eyes will be on the Thunder as they begin their campaign for an NBA Championship.
