Oklahoma City, OK – Oklahoma House Speaker Pro Tem Anthony Moore has announced his endorsement of Gentner Drummond in Oklahoma's Republican gubernatorial runoff, saying the attorney general best represents his priorities for the state's future.
Moore, who represents House District 57, said his decision was based on three key issues: integrity in leadership, continued support for public education, and ongoing investment in rural Oklahoma.
"When I'm looking at my choices for governor, I want three things," Moore said. "Number one, I want someone whose integrity isn't for sale. I want someone who won't flip flop at the last minute to the highest bidder and sell out Oklahomans."
Moore also said he wants the state's next governor to continue supporting public education.
"I want someone who's going to continue the investment we've made in public education, not lob bombs at our teachers to try to make headlines or get votes," he said. "We've seen how that works and I don't want to go back there."
He added that maintaining investment in rural communities remains a top priority.
"I want someone who's going to continue to invest in rural Oklahoma and not create a dichotomy between us and our urban and suburban counterparts," Moore said. "I want someone who's going to invest in energy and agricultural industries and make sure that our way of life is protected."
Moore concluded by saying his choice was clear.
"That's why for me the choice is very clear. I'm proud to endorse Gentner Drummond for governor of the state of Oklahoma."
The endorsement comes as Oklahoma Republicans prepare for the August runoff election after neither Drummond nor former state senator and budget secretary Mike Mazzei received a majority of the vote in the June Republican primary.
On the Democratic side, Cyndi Munson secured her party's nomination and will face the Republican nominee in the November general election to succeed term-limited Governor Kevin Stitt.
