Lipscomb County, TX – A 25-year-old Oklahoma woman was killed Friday evening in a single-vehicle rollover crash on U.S. Highway 60 southwest of Higgins in Lipscomb County, Texas.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the crash occurred at approximately 5:30 p.m. on May 29.
Investigators said Cameron Kaylyn Hammons, 25, of Ames, Oklahoma, was driving a 1999 GMC Sierra northeast on U.S. 60 when she lost control of the pickup due to a suspected mechanical failure.
The vehicle entered a side skid, left the roadway, traveled into a ditch, and rolled over multiple times.
Authorities reported Hammons was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle during the rollover. She was pronounced dead at the scene from injuries sustained in the crash.
Weather conditions were clear and the roadway was dry at the time of the accident. The posted speed limit in the area is 75 mph.
The Texas Highway Patrol investigated the crash. The incident remains under investigation.
No other vehicles were involved in the crash, and no additional injuries were reported.
