Western Oklahoma Cities See Spring Growth in Latest Sales Tax Distribution

Oklahoma City, OK – Sales tax collections distributed April 9 by the Oklahoma Tax Commission show solid growth across much of western Oklahoma, with several communities posting year over year gains.

The April 9, 2026 distribution of sales tax collections by the Oklahoma Tax Commission primarily represents local tax receipts from February business. The monies reported this period represent sales from February 16 through February 28 and estimated sales from March 1 through March 15.

Elk City reported continued growth in this cycle, receiving $1,285,674.48 compared to $1,168,067.18 in April 2025. That marks a 10.07 percent increase year over year.

Weatherford also saw a strong uptick, collecting $1,129,750.29, up from $946,601.44 last year, a 19.35 percent gain.

Clinton posted growth as well, receiving $540,777.14 compared to $464,520.78 last year, up 16.42 percent.

Altus reported a modest increase, bringing in $1,120,734.96 compared to $1,080,546.65 in 2025, a 3.72 percent rise. Woodward also climbed, collecting $1,076,813.49 compared to $1,009,831.74 last year, a 6.63 percent increase.

El Reno was the only larger market in the group to decline, receiving $1,073,835.51 compared to $1,096,947.69 in April 2025, down 2.11 percent.

Among smaller communities in the region, Sayre collected $143,897.85, up 11.31 percent from $129,277.78. Cordell posted one of the strongest gains at $103,867.49 compared to $85,373.49 last year, a 21.66 percent increase. Mangum also rose, bringing in $52,809.27 compared to $47,888.05 in 2025, up 10.28 percent.

Statewide, the disbursement of $202,236,693 in sales tax collections returned to cities and towns reflected an increase of $15,742,252 from the $186,494,441 distributed in April last year. The use tax disbursement to cities and towns totaled $36,613,010.

The latest figures offer a snapshot of late winter and early spring economic activity across Oklahoma communities, with most areas showing steady, moderate growth.
