Sayre, OK – A Sayre man was arrested after police said he repeatedly exposed himself and threatened officers during a welfare check at his home, according to a probable cause affidavit.

William Glenn Meserole, 67, of Sayre, was arrested April 6 in the 700 block of North Fourth Street and was booked on a complaint of lewd exposure, according to court records. The affidavit states the alleged incident happened at about 12:40 p.m. April 5 while officers were responding to a welfare check.

According to the affidavit, an officer was waiting near Fourth Street and Pine when Meserole came onto the porch of the residence wearing black shorts and no shirt. The officer reported that Meserole made obscene hand gestures and, as he turned to walk back toward the residence, intentionally exposed his bare buttocks.

The affidavit states Meserole told officers he was on his own property and that he was drunk. During the contact, officers checked on a woman at the home, who said she was fine, according to the report. The affidavit says Meserole continued yelling at law enforcement, used profanity, and challenged an officer to fight him.

Police warned Meserole they could take him to jail for public intoxication and told him not to come back outside, the affidavit states. When the confrontation continued, officers placed him under arrest. Meserole was then transported to the Beckham County Jail.

A judge later found probable cause for the warrantless arrest, according to the filing in Beckham County District Court.
