Kenneth Campbell Announces Candidacy for Shamrock, Texas Mayor

Shamrock, Texas — Lifelong Shamrock resident and business owner Kenneth Campbell has announced his candidacy for mayor in the upcoming May 2, 2026 municipal election.

Campbell said his decision to run is rooted in a desire to continue serving the community that has shaped his life and family. Born and raised in Shamrock, Texas, he and his wife, Judy Thompson Campbell, raised their daughters, Jennifer Campbell Morgan and the late Heather Campbell Podzemny, in the Shamrock school system.

Campbell spent 30 years working in the oil and gas industry, serving in roles that included Corrosion Technologist, Pipeline Supervisor, and Operations Coordinator. He said those positions required him to manage budgets, oversee employees, and ensure safe, efficient operations, experience he believes has prepared him for public leadership.

In addition to his professional career, Campbell has been active in community service. He served eight years on the Shamrock ISD Board of Trustees and was General Chairman of the city’s St. Patrick’s Day Celebration. He has also contributed to the Shamrock Economic Development Corporation and worked with the Shamrock Ex-Student Association.

Campbell and his family helped refurbish and reopen the historic Texas Theatre in Shamrock, restoring the landmark as a gathering place for residents. He also helped build and operate Mesquite Canyon Steakhouse from 1998 to 2014.

In announcing his candidacy, Campbell said he plans to focus on practical goals and collaborative leadership. He emphasized listening to residents and working together to build on the city’s strengths while addressing areas in need of improvement.

My goal is to harness our collective strengths and improve upon our weaknesses,” Campbell said in a statement. “Shamrock’s greatest asset is its people, and I want to work alongside them to help guide our community forward.”

The Shamrock, Texas municipal election is scheduled for May 2, 2026.
