Guymon Woman Accused in Walmart Theft Ring Arrested in Elk City

Elk City, OK — Three women are facing charges after Elk City police say they worked together to steal hundreds of dollars in merchandise from Walmart. One of the suspects, identified as 51-year-old Holly Jo Garcia of Guymon, was arrested on November 19 and is accused of taking part in what investigators allege was an organized retail crime scheme.

According to a probable cause affidavit, officers were dispatched to the store around 4:39 p.m. after Walmart asset protection employees reported two women making repeated trips out of the store with unpaid merchandise. Employees told police the suspects pushed a shopping cart filled with items to a red Chevy pickup in the parking lot, dropped off the merchandise, then returned inside to steal more.

Police watched the two women on surveillance cameras loading additional items into their cart. Officers at the scene identified the pair as Letisha Brown, 44, and Chandra Hall, 43. A third person was seen waiting in the truck, later identified as Garcia.

Officers stopped Brown and Hall as they attempted to leave through the south exit. Garcia was contacted in the driver seat of the pickup. All three were brought to the asset protection office while police recovered the merchandise.

Authorities say Brown and Hall admitted to taking items to the truck earlier. Officers recovered women’s clothing, underwear, socks, and multiple sets of jewelry. Walmart employees calculated the total value of the stolen goods at $439.36. The affidavit also notes Hall had five previous shoplifting incidents at the Walmart in Guymon within the last three months, totaling $887.

All three women were arrested and booked into the Beckham County Jail. Garcia, Brown, and Hall are each accused of violating Oklahoma Statute 21-1731.2, organized retail crime.

A judge ruled that probable cause existed for Garcia’s arrest and set her bond at $5,000.
