Clinton Man Faces Multiple Firearm Charges Following Apartment Dispute

The Penny News 888

Clinton, OK – A Clinton man is facing multiple felony charges after an argument allegedly escalated into threats and gunfire last week.

According to court records, Eddie Larkin Pearson Jr., 64, was charged in Custer County District Court with feloniously pointing a firearm, discharging a firearm in a public place, and possession of a firearm after former felony conviction. The charges stem from an incident that occurred the night of Sept. 24, 2025, at an apartment complex on Rawlings Drive.

Police say Pearson became involved in an argument with another man after a dispute over food inside the complex. The two men stepped outside, where Pearson allegedly retrieved a 9mm Springfield Hellcat handgun, pointed it, and threatened to kill the other man. The victim told officers Pearson then fired a round as he was calling 911 but missed.

When Clinton police officers arrived, Pearson denied the allegations but admitted he could not legally possess a firearm due to prior felony convictions. After obtaining a search warrant, investigators recovered the handgun, which was loaded and found hidden in a hamper inside Pearson’s apartment. Officers also confirmed the weapon had been reported stolen out of Yukon.

Court filings show Pearson has prior felony convictions, including a 1980 manslaughter case in Beckham County and a 2023 conviction for possession of controlled substances with intent to distribute, for which he served time in the Department of Corrections.

If convicted, Pearson faces up to life in prison on the felony firearm charges. The misdemeanor count of discharging a firearm in a public place carries up to one year in jail and a $500 fine.

Pearson remains in custody pending further court proceedings.
