Rain-Threat Alert for Western Oklahoma

The Penny News 793

FLASH FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT starting 4 PM today through Tuesday morning. Expect widespread runoff. Rivers, creeks, and low-lying spots could flood if heavier pockets of rain hit. Forecast calls for 1–2 inches of rainfall, with locally higher amounts up to 4 inches possible.

In addition, a SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH is active until 9?PM this evening, covering Beckham, Custer, Washita, Roger?Mills, and surrounding counties. Strong storms capable of hail, damaging winds, and perhaps even brief tornadoes remain possible.

What to Watch For:

  • Tonight: Showers may ramp up into heavy bursts, especially after 4 PM. Some areas might see flooding.

  • Evening (through 9 PM): Severe thunderstorms could bring hail, 60–70 mph wind gusts, and the chance of a tornado.

  • Tuesday morning: Lingering rain. Flood watch stays in place through the morning.

What You Should Do:

  • Avoid driving through flooded roads or low areas.

  • Stay weather-connected—NOAA radio, KECO, local alerts.

  • Have a safe plan in place if tornado warnings are issued.
