Roger Mills County, OK – Voters in Roger Mills County have approved a six-year extension of a 1.5% county sales tax, with 90.4% voting in favor during Tuesday’s special election. The proposition passed with 226 votes for and only 24 against, according to the official results from all 9 precincts reporting.
The measure ensures the continuation of essential funding for healthcare, emergency services, and county government operations beginning December 1, 2025, when the current tax was set to expire.
The 1.5% sales tax is divided among several key areas:
Roger Mills County Hospital Authority: Receives 0.9¢ of every cent collected to support hospital operations and services.
Rural Fire Departments: 0.125¢ goes toward general operation and capital improvement for the Cheyenne, Crawford, Hammon, Reydon, Strong City, and Berlin Fire Departments, with each department receiving 14.29% of that share.
Leedey and Sweetwater Fire Departments: Collectively receive 7.13% of the funding for their departments.
County-Wide Government Services: 0.475¢ funds general operation and capital improvement across multiple county offices, including:

        OSU Extension Office
        Fair Board
        Rural Economic Development
        Sheriff's Office
        Treasurer, Assessor, Court Clerk, and County Clerk Offices
