Weatherford, OK – Dr. Wael Eldahshan, an Assistant Professor in the Southwestern Oklahoma State University (SWOSU) College of Pharmacy, has been named the recipient of the 2025 Pharmacology Educators Award by the American Society for Experimental Pharmacology and Therapeutics (ASPET). This honor demonstrates Eldahshan’s outstanding contributions to pharmacology education and highlights SWOSU’s dedication to excellence in the field of pharmacy.

The ASPET Pharmacology Educators Award is a prestigious national recognition, presented annually to educators who go above and beyond in advancing pharmacology teaching, curriculum development, and educational innovation. Eldashan’s selection reflects his commitment to preparing the next generation of healthcare professionals with forward-thinking education.

At SWOSU, Eldahshan plays a vital role in shaping the pharmacy program’s academic offerings. As the instructor and course director for Pharmacology I, Pathophysiology I, and Toxicology, he delivers comprehensive and innovative coursework to second- and third- year pharmacy students. His efforts to integrate creative teaching methods and assessment strategies into these courses have earned him recognition as a leader in pharmacology education. His work in curriculum design, faculty development, and innovative teaching practices has set a high standard for educators nationwide.

We are proud of Dr. Eldahshan and his spouse Dr. Reem Atawia, who have both been recognized for their contributions to teaching in pharmacology,” said Dr. Les Ramos, Dean of the College of Pharmacy. “[They both] dedicate much time to course development, optimizing student learning and success in the biomedical sciences, including pathophysiology, pharmacology, and toxicology.”

Eldahshan earned his PhD in Clinical and Experimental Therapeutics from the University of Georgia and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Medical College of Georgia. His research interests span vascular biology, behavioral neuroscience, and pharmacology education, contributing to a well-rounded and impactful career.

The ASPET Pharmacology Educators Award, presented annually by the Division for Pharmacology Education, includes a commemorative plaque and up to $1,000 in travel and registration reimbursement to attend the ASPET Annual Meeting. Eldahshan will be formally recognized during the Division’s business meeting at the 2025 ASPET Annual Meeting.
