SWOSU Press Release

Southwestern Oklahoma State University (SWOSU) recently hosted Oklahoma legislative leaders Senator Chuck Hall (Perry – District 20); Senator Darcy Jech (Kingfisher – District 26); Representative Trey Caldwell (Lawton – District 63); and Representative Anthony Moore (Clinton – District 57) for a visit at SWOSU’s main location in Weatherford.

In the Senate, Hall serves as Chairman of the Committee on Appropriations & Budget and Jech serves as Chairman of the Committee on Public Safety.

In the House, Caldwell serves as Chairman of the Committee on Appropriations & Budget and Moore serves as Chairman of the Committee on Higher Education & Career Technology.

During their visits to SWOSU, Hall, Jech, Caldwell, and Moore were briefed by SWOSU President Dr. Diana R. Lovell regarding SWOSU’s aerospace and defense workforce development initiatives along with the institution’s extensive course offerings in critical healthcare occupations. The legislators were also given a tour of the construction site for SWOSU’s Jerry & Margaret Hodge Center for Pharmacy & Rural Health (Hodge Center) by SWOSU Vice President for Administration & Finance Ms. Lori Boyd and SWOSU Provost & Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Joel Kendall. Additional briefings were provided regarding SWOSU’s utilization of deferred maintenance funding and of the institution’s growing concurrent enrollment program.

So much of what we are able to do at SWOSU is attributable to the substantial and steadfast support we receive from legislative champions like Senators Hall and Jech and Representatives Caldwell and Moore,” said Lovell. “We were delighted to welcome these outstanding leaders to the SWOSU Hilltop and we sincerely thank them for their continued involvement in our efforts to deliver an accessible, affordable program of instruction and training to Oklahomans.”
