Roger Mills County, OK – Roger Mills County fire departments responded to three separate lightning-caused fires near Reydon Wednesday evening, with crews ultimately bringing all three incidents under control.
According to Roger Mills County Emergency Management, the first fire was reported around 6:37 p.m. near N1710 and E900 roads, northwest of Reydon. The Reydon Fire Department was dispatched after a lightning strike sparked the fire.
While crews were responding, a second lightning-strike fire was reported near N1750 and E920 roads, northeast of Reydon. All county fire departments were then paged to assist, along with graders from Roger Mills County Districts 2 and 3.
Rain extinguished the second fire, while the first continued to grow. Firefighters eventually brought the first blaze under control, and all departments except Reydon were released around 8:45 p.m.
As crews were returning home, a third lightning-strike fire was reported approximately five miles south of Reydon. Firefighters and county graders quickly responded and brought that fire under control.
All units were released from the third fire around 9:30 p.m.
No injuries or structural damage were reported in the information released by Roger Mills County Emergency Management.
