Elk City, OK – A Yukon man is facing a felony grand larceny charge after investigators allege he used a false name and business identity to obtain thousands of pounds of scrap metal from an Elk City business without paying for it.
According to a probable cause affidavit filed in Beckham County District Court, Christopher Matthew Williams, 27, is accused of taking approximately 2,500 pounds of copper wire and an estimated 1,000 pounds of aluminum from an Elk City business in late December 2025. The materials were valued at about $9,200.
Court records allege Williams introduced himself as "Chris Marks" and claimed to own a metal recycling business in Edmond. Investigators say he negotiated the purchase of the scrap metal, had employees load it into his trailer, then left the business without paying. According to the affidavit, Williams later gave several explanations for not returning with payment before ending communication altogether.
The investigation included surveillance video, social media accounts, Cash App records, text messages, and witness interviews. Investigators say those records linked the alias "Chris Marks" to Williams and a Yukon residence where a red Dodge Ram 3500 dually pickup and matching trailer, similar to those seen at the Elk City business, were located.
Authorities executed a search warrant at the Yukon residence on June 30. According to the affidavit, Williams acknowledged having conducted business in Elk City but requested an attorney when questioned about scrap metal transactions from December 2025. Investigators also recovered documents related to scrap metal transactions during the search.
The affidavit states investigators believe Williams intentionally used an alias and false business information to gain the victim's trust before leaving with the property. He is charged with one count of grand larceny. The affidavit also notes Williams was wanted on an unrelated warrant from Tarrant County, Texas, at the time of his arrest.
Williams was booked into custody, and court records indicate probable cause was found for the charge.
