Clinton, OK – Marcus Ray John Watan, 21, has been charged in Custer County District Court with escaping from the Clinton City Jail.

According to a probable cause affidavit, Watan was serving as a trustee on May 17 when he allegedly took out trash at the Clinton Police Department and walked away from the area. Authorities said he was later seen running across the Clinton City Hall parking lot before officers lost sight of him.

Watan was later found on the front porch of a residence on Dunn Avenue in Clinton. The affidavit states he was taken into custody after multiple commands.

Court documents allege Watan showed signs of possible intoxication, including red watery eyes, slurred speech, and unsteadiness. When asked if he had consumed anything, Watan reportedly told officers, “Germ-X.”

He was booked into the Clinton City Jail on a district charge of escaping from a city jail, which is listed as a felony. Court records also show the charge was filed after former conviction of a felony.
