Clinton, OK – An Albuquerque man is facing multiple charges in Custer County after an alleged incident at a Clinton hotel.
Lawrence Moya, 41, has been charged with possession of a firearm after former felony conviction, defrauding an innkeeper, resisting an officer, obstructing an officer, possession of a controlled dangerous substance, and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.
According to a probable cause affidavit, officers were called May 17 to a hotel on Lexington Avenue in Clinton in reference to an unwanted person. Hotel staff reported finding Moya inside a room that was supposed to be vacant.
Court documents state that Moya was later placed under arrest after hotel staff requested charges for defrauding an innkeeper. During the arrest, authorities allege Moya tensed up and resisted before being taken into custody.
A search of Moya’s belongings allegedly uncovered two handguns, ammunition, a white crystal-like substance that field tested positive for methamphetamine, pills, a glass pipe with burnt residue, a bong, a substance that tested positive for marijuana, a dab pen, syringes, a small scale, and vapes.
Court records also allege Moya had prior felony convictions. The firearm charge carries a possible sentence of three years to life due to the after-former-conviction filing.
Moya is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
