Memorial Day Ceremony Honors Fallen Heroes at Fairlawn Cemetery

Elk City, OK – Community members, veterans, first responders, scouts, and local law enforcement gathered Monday morning at Fairlawn Cemetery to honor the men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to the United States during the annual Memorial Day ceremony.

The ceremony featured patriotic music, remarks honoring fallen service members, a flag presentation, and a traditional 21-gun salute performed by local law enforcement officers. Attendees stood in solemn silence as veterans and families reflected on the sacrifices made by generations of Americans who never returned home.

Organizers expressed gratitude for the strong community turnout and emphasized the importance of remembering those who gave their lives protecting the nation’s freedoms.

Memorial Day is more than a holiday — it is a day of remembrance. We gather not only to honor the fallen, but to ensure their sacrifice is never forgotten,” says Sheriff Manning.

Veterans from across the area attended alongside families, children, and community supporters. Scouts participated in the ceremony while members of law enforcement rendered honors and participated in the salute presentation.

The event concluded with attendees standing in respect beneath the American flag as honors were rendered to the nation’s fallen heroes.

Community leaders thanked everyone who attended and helped make the ceremony meaningful, noting that the continued support shown by the public helps preserve the memory and legacy of those who served.
