Ada, OK – Additional charges have been filed against the suspect accused in the death of Southwestern Oklahoma State University student Logan Musil.
According to amended court documents filed last week, 20-year-old Cameron Lewis now faces charges of second-degree homicide and tampering with evidence in connection with Musil’s death. Lewis had previously been charged with abuse of a corpse.
Musil, an 18-year-old freshman at SWOSU in Weatherford, was reported missing by his mother in September 2025 after friends and family lost contact with him. Weeks later, investigators discovered his body in a wooded area near Veterans Lake in Sulphur, roughly 150 miles from Weatherford.
Authorities say Lewis quickly became a focus of the investigation after learning Musil was last seen at Lewis’ parents’ home in Purcell. Investigators reviewed surveillance footage from the SWOSU campus and traced the pair’s movements leading up to what authorities described as an altercation.
Court records state Lewis later admitted he and Musil were involved in a physical fight. Investigators previously said Lewis told them the two had taken mushrooms before the confrontation occurred. According to federal search warrant documents released earlier in the investigation, Lewis claimed Musil fell during the altercation, struck a rock, and later stopped breathing.
Investigators allege Lewis then transported and concealed Musil’s body in the wooded area near Veterans Lake. Authorities also say Lewis admitted throwing Musil’s cellphone into the lake. Evidence connected to the case was reportedly recovered from Lewis’ dorm room and vehicle.
Lewis appeared previously in Chickasaw Nation District Court and entered a not guilty plea to the original abuse of a corpse charge. Information regarding a new court appearance tied to the amended charges has not yet been released.
The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation continues to investigate the case. Officials have not publicly disclosed an official cause of death for Musil.
Lewis is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
