Weatherford, OK – Southwestern Oklahoma State University (SWOSU) has announced the dedication of the Brewster-Bryant Family Office of the Dean of the College of Pharmacy in the new Jerry & Margaret Hodge Center for Pharmacy & Rural Health at the institution’s main campus in Weatherford.

Herschel and Carol Brewster have been dedicated boosters of SWOSU for decades. The official designation of the Brewster-Bryant Family Office of the Dean of the College of Pharmacy recognizes their ongoing involvement with the university's mission and work and their family’s deep ties to the SWOSU College of Pharmacy.

Herschel Brewster is a native of Miami, Oklahoma. He attended Northeast Oklahoma Junior College (now Northeastern Oklahoma A&M) and is a 1974 graduate of Oklahoma State University with a degree in animal science and agricultural education. Herschel and his family moved to Weatherford from Cordell in 1990 as he accepted the position of Head Lender at First National Bank. He had previously taught at Cordell for three years before becoming an Ag Specialist for Farmers National Bank, which was later acquired by First National Bank. In 1999, he was named President & CEO at First National Bank, a position he held until his retirement in 2024.

Herschel is a past president of the Weatherford Arena Economic Development Foundation, the Weatherford Area Chamber of Commerce, YMCA, and Rotary. In 2019 he was inducted into the Chamber of Commerce Hall of Fame. Within his profession, he also served on the Bank Board of Directors for the Oklahoma Bankers Association and in 2024 he was named to the Oklahoma Bankers Hall of Fame.

In 2020, Herschel received the SWOSU Athletics Cecil Perkins Service Award. He is a founding member and past president of the SWOSU Athletic Association.

Herschel and Carol are parents of Amber (Brewster) Bryant, married to Dr. Joe Bryant, and Dr. Colby Brewster, married to Adrienne (Camden) Brewster. Herschel and Carol are proud grandparents of Kaitlyn Bryant, Kamri Bryant, Kinlee Brewster, Camden Brewster, Macie Brewster, and Whitley Brewster.

Amber, Joe, Colby, and Adrienne are all SWOSU alumni (Joe and Colby are both graduates of the SWOSU College of Pharmacy), and Kinlee and Kamri will begin attending SWOSU this year.

The Brewster-Bryant Family Office of the Dean of the College of Pharmacy is located within the Hodge Center, a $27 million, state-of-the-art facility dedicated in March 2026. The space is the new home to the SWOSU College of Pharmacy and the SWOSU Center for Rural Health.

We are deeply grateful to our longtime friends and benefactors, Herschel and Carol Brewster, for generously supporting our mission,” said SWOSU President Dr. Joel Kendall. “Their charitable investment will help us deliver quality instruction and services at Hodge Center for many years to come.”
