Annual Voter Registration Report Released in Oklahoma

The Penny News 1124

Oklahoma City, OK – The Oklahoma State Election Board has released its official annual voter registration report, showing a total of 2,406,168 registered voters statewide as of January 15, 2026.

Republican voters make up the largest share of registered voters with 1,282,277, accounting for 53.2 percent of the total. Democrats follow with 609,265 registered voters, or 25.3 percent. Independent voters total 491,294, representing 20.4 percent, while 23,332 voters are registered Libertarian, just under one percent statewide.

The State Election Board records official voter registration statistics each year on January 15. Monthly voter registration data and historical comparisons are available through the agency’s website.

Voters who need to update their registration information may do so online through the OK Voter Portal or by submitting a new voter registration application to their county election board.

Election officials also reminded voters that Oklahoma operates under a closed primary system. To participate in a party’s primary election, voters must be registered with that party. Those planning to vote in a party primary election in June must update their party affiliation by April 1. State law prohibits party affiliation changes from April 1 through August 31 in even-numbered years, with applications received during that period held until after August 31.

More information, including voter registration statistics and election resources, is available at oklahoma.gov/elections.
