Weatherford, OK – Southwestern Oklahoma State University (SWOSU) Foundation, Inc. is proud to announce that Dr. Valerie Reimers of El Reno, Oklahoma, has made a substantial gift to the SWOSU Bulldog Angels Fund, further strengthening a program she has supported since its founding.

Dr. Reimers, an emeritus faculty member of SWOSU and a founder-level donor to the Bulldog Angels program, has demonstrated a long-standing commitment to student success and access to higher education. Her most recent gift continues her legacy of service by helping students remain enrolled when unexpected financial challenges arise.

The Bulldog Angels Fund serves as a critical safety net for students facing crises such as medical emergencies, housing instability, or other unforeseen hardships that could otherwise derail their academic progress. By providing timely assistance, the fund helps students stay focused on completing their degrees.

"We are deeply grateful to Dr. Valerie Reimers for her latest generous investment in SWOSU's students," said SWOSU Interim President Dr. Joel Kendall. "Her support of the Bulldog Angels Fund allows us to provide support at critical junctures of difficulty and challenge, keeping our students on-track and enrolled."

Throughout her distinguished academic career at SWOSU, Dr. Reimers mentored and supported countless students. Since earning emeritus status, she has remained actively engaged in advancing the university’s mission through philanthropy. Dr. Reimers founded the Writing Center on the SWOSU Campus.

Dr. Reimers’ gift reinforces the compassionate spirit at the heart of Bulldog Angels and serves as an example of how dedicated supporters can make a meaningful difference in students’ lives.

The Bulldog Angels Fund is stewarded by the SWOSU Foundation, Inc. Founded in 1977, the SWOSU Foundation promotes philanthropy, awards scholarships, and distributes resources to support the programs and students of Southwestern Oklahoma State University.
