Beckham County Sees Light Holiday Crash Activity, Sheriff Manning Says

The Penny News 1013

Beckham County, OK – Beckham County roads stayed relatively calm over the Thanksgiving travel period, according to Sheriff Derek Manning.

Manning said that while his office monitored several wrecks in the area during the busy holiday stretch, none appeared to be serious. He noted that he typically receives immediate notice through GeoSafe if a major or fatal crash occurs.

I usually pay pretty close attention on GeoSafe, and usually get notified if we have a serious fatality accident,” Manning said. “But if there was anything like that, I didn’t hear about it here in Beckham County this Thanksgiving holiday.”

He added that although a few crashes were reported, none showed signs of severe injury based on the information available to his office.

Statewide traffic data has not yet been released. Manning said officials typically receive a statewide crash summary following the holiday but had not seen those numbers yet.

Thanksgiving week is traditionally one of the busiest travel periods of the year, with the Tuesday and Wednesday before the holiday often ranking among the heaviest driving days in the United States.
