Oklahoma | U.S. Drought Monitor | October 15, 2026
Oklahoma summary from the National Drought Summary for October 13, 2026 / South.
Oklahoma experienced severe heat after a record-breaking month, marking its warmest September in 132 years, along with Texas, Arkansas, and Louisiana. Persistent precipitation deficits, abnormally high temperatures, and elevated evaporative demand drove continued drying and moisture depletion. While the lower Mississippi Valley saw worsening drought, localized improvements occurred nearby in the Texas Panhandle and north-central Texas along the Oklahoma border, where lingering rainfall from previous weeks helped reduce drought severity.
