HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL PLAYOFFS 

Regional Tournaments finished up yesterday in Class 2A-A-B all across Oklahoma. In Class A girls consolation bracket action, the AB Lady Indians’ season came to an end with a 72-61 loss to Apache. The Canute Trojans were eliminated in Class A boys consolation action 55-52 by Texoma. Erick’s moving on to the Area tournament in Class b boys. The Bearcats came back from a double digit deficit to knock out Big Pasture 70-66. Leedey’s season ended with a 49-44 loss to Arnett. 

There was plenty of winner’s bracket action last night as well. In 2A girls Merritt lost the regional final to Riverside 40-37. In Class A girls Canute outlasted C-R 39-26. Class B Girls saw Hammon win their regional final 51-18 against Canton. Arnett knocked off Leedey in another Class B girls regional final 53-47. 

The Hammon Warriors are a win away from a trip to the state tournament. Hammon pulled away from Sentinel in the second half to win 59-38. 

With the Regional Tournaments complete, we now know our broadcast schedule for Thursday. There will be 4 Area Cons games on paragontv Thursday. Merritt plays Wilson at 1:00 in Chickasha in 2A girls. Erick and Sentinel will tangle in Bridge Creek at 2:30 for a Class B Boys Area Cons Game. At 6 we’ll have two more girls games C-R gets Okay in Class A girls from Stroud. Leedey plays Shidler at Enid in Class b girls. 

4A has reached the Regional round. Elk City’s first round of regionals will be over in Wford. The Big Elks will play Cache in an elimination game at 2:30. The Elkettes are in the winner’s bracket against wford at 6. You can watch those two on bigelktv.com  

THUNDER BLOW MASSIVE LEAD TO MINNESOTA 

For the first 44 minutes last night inside the Paycom Center, it looked like business as usual for the OK City Thunder. After a Jalen Williams bucket OKC led 121-105 with just under 4 minutes left. Unfortunately from there Minnesota scored the last 16 to send the game into OT and eventually win 131-128. It’s the Thunder’s first loss since the All Star break. They’ll get tonight off before hitting the road to Brooklyn to face the Nets tomorrow night. 

TRES HILL LEADS OCU TO DOMINATE WIN IN TEXAS 

Former Big Elk state championship golfer Tres Hill lit it up today in Texas. Tres made 9 birdies and a single bogey en route to an 8 under round of 64 to pull away from the rest of the field in the Texas Invitational played at Gentle Creek in Prosper, TX. Tres shot rounds of 72-70-64 to finish 10 under for 3 rounds, good enough for a 5 shot win individually. Tres’s OCU Stars blew away the field in the team competition shooting 19 under which was 38 shots better than anyone else in the field.
