HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL PLAYOFFS 

The Class 2A-A-B Regional tournaments rolled on this weekend all across Oklahoma. It was a wild ride Friday night in winner’s bracket action. On the girls side in Class 2A, Merritt hammered Hinton 80-35. In Class A Canute whipped Apache 70-25 and C-R outlasted Turpin 55-47. In Class B Hammon handled FCB 52-27 and Leedey wallopped Timberlake 55-27. On the boys side in Class A Canute lost on a buzzer beater 3 to the Academy 63-62. In Class B Hammon came back from 13 down at half to beat FCB 61-55. The warriors finall took the lead on the long shot... Leedey fell to Vici 34-33. Erick lost to Granite 59-49. Friday also saw a milestone reached. Merritt’s Luke Peffer scored his 1000th career point in a season ending loss to Hinton.  

Today saw Regional Consolation action this afternoon. In Class A girls action AB season ended in a 72-61 loss to Apache. In Class A boys Canute was eliminated by Texoma 55-52. Down in Class B Leedey’s season is over with a 49-44 loss to Arnett. Erick’s moving on to Area after overcoming a double digit defict to clip Big Pasture 70-66. 

We’ll have a handful of Regional Finals available tonight on Paragontv. At 6 o’clock the girls take center stage. In 2A it’s a rematch of last season’s State semifinal between Merritt and Riverside. In Class a Canute and C-R tangle in Canute. The Trojanettes clipped the Lady Bears by 3 earlier this season. In Class B the Hammon Lady Warriors play the Canton Lady Tigers. And for the fourth time this season the Leedey Lady Bison will face off against the Arnett Lady Wildcats. There’s one boys Regional Final at 7:30. The Hammon Warriors will take on the Sentinel Bulldogs. Catch all the live action on paragontv.com 

Class 4A played district tournaments this weekend. Elk City hosted Woodward on Friday night inside the Pioneer Center. The Lady Boomers led by 17 at half before the Elkettes stormed back in the second half. The game was tied with 7.5 seconds left...... O’Hara shot gave the Brown and White a 53-51 win over Woodward. For the 3rd time this season the Woodward Boomers and Big Elks played. For the 3rd time this season Woodward handled the Elks with ease, this time 69-30. Elk City will travel to Wford for Regionals on Thursday. The Elks will play Cache at 2:30 in an elimination game. The Elkettes face Wford in the Winners bracket at 6. 

SOONERS WIN/COWBOYS LOSE OVER THE WEEKEND 

The Oklahoma Sooners won an important SEC game on Saturday afternoon in Norman against 22nd ranked Miss St. OU led for most of the afternoon, eventually holding off the Bulldogs 93-87. Freshman Jeremiah Fears had 27 points and 10 assists in the win. Oklahoma will host #17 Kentucky on Wednesday. Oklahoma St went to Phog Allen to face Kansas. The Jayhawks had been struggling, but not this weekend as they blasted the Pokes 96-64. OSU’s at home tomorrow night against #9 Iowa St. 

THUNDER WIN TWICE; HOST MINNESOTA TONIGHT 

The Ok City Thunder have come roaring out of the All Star Break with a pair of wins over the weekend. OKC throttled Utah 130-107 on Friday night then won in Minnesota last night130-123. They’re right back at it tonight with a return trip to the Paycom Center to play a back to back against Minnesota. You can hear it live on 98.1fm and 1240 am. Pregame starts at 5:30 ahead of the 7 o’clock tip 

CUMMINS MAKES THE CUT IN MEXICO 

Wford’s Quade Cummins made his second cut in four tries on the PGA Tour this weekend down in Mexico. Quade shot rounds of 69-68-68-69 to finish 10 under and a season best tie for 32nd. He’ll tee it up this week down in Palm Beach Gardens, FL
