HIGH SCHOOL HOOPS RESULTS 

It was an awesome night on Friday night inside the Pioneer Center with Kingfisher in town. Senior night and the honoring of the 1985 and 1995 Elkettes State Championship teams surrounding a big time top 15 battle between the Elkettes and Lady Jackets. The game didn’t disappoint. Neither team ever held a double digit lead, and the game was essentially a possession or two the entire night. Elk City led 40-34 with 2:30 left. Kingfisher battled back with 6 straight tying the score with a minute to go. Luci O’Hara had the answer for the Brown and White.... After a defensive stop, Kaz Ulrich was fouled with 10.9 to play. She buried both free throws icing a 44-40 win for the #15 Elkettes over the #5 Lady Jackets. Abbie Myers led all scorers with 18 for Kingfisher. Abby Brown paced Elk City with 17. The Yellowjackets started fast against the Elks in the boys game scoring the game’s first 7. The Big Elks fought back a couple different times throughout the night but ultimately Kingfisher was too much in a 69-31 win. Freshman Graham Easttom scored a career high 15 in the loss. Elk City will play their final regular season games tonight inside the Pioneer Center with Altus coming to town. Note the earlier start time with the girls tipping at 6. If you can’t make it out to the gym you can catch the action on bigelktv.com Pregame gets going at 5:45 before the 6 o’clock tip. 

Paragontv had a slew of small school playoff action this weekend, and there’s games going on right now as well. Both Leedey teams are playing for District titles. The Lady Bison tipped at 4 against Kremlin-Hillsdale. The Bison will follow around 5:30. Tune in to the live action on Paragontv.com 

As for the games that were completed over the weekend, in girls action the defending 2A champs won a district title. Merritt’s Oilerettes dispatched of Frederick 67-27. In Class A action, C-R won their district with a 55-34 win over SW Covenant. Canute handled A-B in the district finals in Canute 56-37. Hammon won easily in Class B 91-20.  

On the boys side of some of the district tournaments, the Merritt Oilers will have to travel the long road to get back to state after falling to Frederick in their 2A district finals 39-35. In Class A C-R fell to #56 SW Covenant 66-43. Canute topped AB 56-36. Hammon had no trouble in their Class B district title tilt with a 91-32 pasting of Sweetwater. Erick’s district champs courtesy of a 77-39 whipping of MVG. In that game Baylor Crosby joined the 2000 point club.
