PLAYOFF BRACKETS RELEASED 

Class 2A-A-and B high school basketball playoff brackets were released this afternoon. In 2A Area II, both Merritt squads will get the playoffs started by hosting District on next Friday night. Both teams will play the winner of Thursday’s games between Cordell and Frederick. In Class A Area IV, both AB teams will play in Canute next Thursday in elimination games against Shattuck. Canute will get the winner’s of those games next Friday. The C-R Bears will play an elimination game in Okeene next Friday against Okeene. The Lady Bears won’t play til next Saturday night in Okeen against the Okeene/SW Covenant winner. Class B Area I has both Leedey teams. They’ll play the Aline-Cleo/Kremlin-Hillsdale winners next Saturday at Leedey. In Class B Area II, both Erick teams are in 4 team districts. The Lady Bearcats will play an elimination game next Thursday against Fox. The Bearcats will play an elimination game next Friday vs Fox. The Erick games will be played at Mt.View-Gotebo. Hammon’s a district host. Both teams will play next Saturday against the Sweetwater/Taloga winners. 

We’ll get assignments for Class 4A tomorrow afternoon to know where Elk City will be playing district the following weekend. 

HIGH SCHOOL GAME TONIGHT 

Merritt basketball will play their first of three straight nights tonight at home against Mangum. You can watch it live on paragontv.com. The girls game starts at 6:30 with the boys to follow at 8 

THUNDER OBLITERATE PHOENIX 

The Ok City Thunder won their 3rd straight in a 4 game homestand last night against the Phoenix Suns. OKC started slow, trailling 63-61 at halftime before dominating the Suns 43-16 in the 3rd to blow the game wide open in a 140-109 win. SGA had his 3rd 50 point game in the last 7. Ok City became the 31st team in NBA history to earn their 40th win before losing their 10th game. Only 3 teams since the league went to an 82 game regular season schedule have won a title without winning 40 before losing 20. The thunder just won 40 before their 10th loss. They’ll get tonight off before wrapping up the 4 game homestand tomorrow night against Toronto.
