HIGH SCHOOL HOOPS

As we wind down the first half of the school year, there are just a couple of high school hoops games before the official start of the Christmas Break. Last night Canute went to Duke and swept a doubleheader. The Trojanettes breezed past the Lady Tigers 81-3. The Trojans knocked off Class B #8 Tigers 56-44. Erick split with Tipton. The Lady Bearcats fell 39-28. The Bearcats were 69-45 winners.

We have a couple more games coming up this evening. Elk City travels down to Tuttle to face the Tigers. The Girls game is a matchup of #17 EC and #9 Tuttle. If you can’t make it no worries I’ll have you covered with live video streaming on bigelkitv.com pregame starts at 6:15 ahead of the 6:30 tip.

Paragontv has a pair of games as well. Merritt hosts Hinton while Hammon travels to Arnett. The Hammon/Arnett girls game features Class B #2 vs Class B #6. Both these also start at 6:30. Both available on Paragontv.com

THUNDER WIN IN ORLANDO; MIAMI TONIGHT

The Ok City thunder won their 6th straight game that counted in the standings last night in Orlando. We’ll forget about the pesky NBA Cup finals loss against Milwaukee on Tuesday that doesn’t count in the standings. It looked like a breeze for OKC with a 23 point 3rd quarter lead before having to stave off the hard charging Magic 105-99. SGA poured in 35 and the Thunder bench outscored Orlando’s 50-39 in the win. Ok City stays in Florida tonight in Miami. You can hear it all live on 98.1fm and 1240 am. Thunder/heat tips at 7 with the pregame starting at 5:30

COLLEGE FOOTBALL PLAYOFF STARTS TOMORROW

The inaugural 12 team college football playoff kicks off tonight in South Bend, IN. Notre Dame will host Indiana under the watchful eye of Touchdown Jesus at 7 oclock. Despite being located in the same state, the two have played once since 1958. Saturday’s a triple header. It starts with Penn St hosting SMU at 11. The Nittany Lions are a dismal 1-14 against top 10 foes since 2017. Texas’s at home against Clemson at 3. A homecoming game for Clemson QB Cade Klubnick who played at Austin Westlake. The nightcap’s in Columbus with Ohio St welcoming Tennessee at 7. The Buckeyes have struggled in postseason games against the SEC. Ohio St is only 2-14 all time against the SEC in bowl/playoff games. Tennessee is only the 4th SEC team to ever visit Ohio Stadiium
