COLLEGE FOOTBALL
WEEKEND
It was a brutal weekend for the two in state schools on the
college football gridiron. Oklahoma was dominated on their home field by South
Carolina for the second time in the last 3 years this time 52-25 in a game that
wasn’t nearly even that close. The Gamecocks rolled up 521 on the Sooners
defense. It took the Sooners nearly 3 quarters to find their 100th
yard then saved face on the statsheet in garbage time the entire 4th
quarter. Oklahoma St once again were tripped up in Ames, IA by the Cyclones in
a 51-49 shootout loss. The Cowboys’ offense was stellar with 533 total yards,
but the defense was eviscerated to the tune of 581 Iowa St yards of offense. Ok
State QB Drew Mestemaker completed 27/42 for 323 yards with 5 TDs and a pick.
Caleb Hawkins rushed it 25 times for 194 and two scores in a losing effort.
