ARAPAHO BUTLER GOES
BACK TO BACK IN CLASS A FAST PITCH
For the 3rd straight season and back to back in
fast pitch, the Class A State Championship trophy is back in Western Oklahoma.
The Arapaho Butler Lady Indians brought home the fast pitch trophy for the second
straight season with a 4-0 shutout of Okarche on Saturday in the Class A State
Finals. Once again Lauren McHenry was the star of stars for the Lady Indians
shutting out Okarche in 7 innings giving up only 2 hits with 6 strikeouts and 2
walks. She also had two hits in three at bats with an RBI. McHenry went 8 for 9
in the 3 games at the state tournament. Madi Lockhart had two hits and a rbi. Kylin
Oakes knocked in a pair as well. AB ends the season with another state
championship and a sterling 36-5 record. Congratulations to Coach Thompson and
the Lady Indians on the Class A Fast Pitch State Championship.
The Class 2A Fast pitch tournament went to Dale in a 4-2 win
over Dover. Red Oak is your Class B State champ after blanking Caney 10-0.
The Fall Baseball state titles went to Silo in Class 2A
after whipping Dale 10-2. Rattan was as dominate as anyone in Class A. The Rams
surrendered only a single run in 3 games including a 10-0 shutout of Navajo in
the finals. #2 Tupelo shocked #1 FCB 8-3. It’s the first time since the spring
of 2022 the Class B State Title didn’t go to either FCB or Calumet.
VOLLEYBALL REGIONALS
We get Volleyball State Tournaments this week in Class 4A
and 3A. The Wford Lady Eagles received a tough draw for the second straight
season heading into the state tournament. Wford was ranked 6th going
into regionals, as high as 4 most of the season, but they are the 8 seed in the
State Tournament and will face #1 Mt. St Mary’s at 11:15 Thursday at Claremore
High School. Wford’s one of only two public schools to make the 4A State
Tournament. Collusion anyone? In 3A only Choteau-Mazie was the only public
school to make state.
FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS
Week 6 on the high school football schedule came and went on
Friday night. The Elk City Elks put up a great fight in the first half and were

COLLEGE FOOTBALL
WEEKEND
Both in state schools played conference games on Saturday.
Oklahoma St was at home against a beat up Central Florida squad. The game was
tied at 21 at halftime before Oklahoma St mashed the gas and dominated the
second half in a 42-28 Big 12 win. Qb Drew Mestemaker completed 19/28 for 304
yards and 2 TDs. The Pokes improve to 4-1, 2-0 in the league with a big one
coming up this week at Houston. The annual Red River Shootout was down in the
Cotton Bowl at Dallas between Oklahoma and Texas. The Horns led 17-7 at
halftime before the Sooners came back to tie it at 17 early in the 4th
quarter. Oklahoma’s defense came up big a couple of possessions later…. Peyton Bowen’s 42 yard
interception return for a Touchdown gave Oklahoma their first lead 24-17. Texas
took the ensuing possession and scored to tie it at 24. After another Arch
Manning interception with 19 seconds left, the Sooners gave Tate Sandell a
chance to win it with a field goal…. When Sandell’s 47 yard field goal split
the uprights the Crimson and Cream stormed the Cotton Bowl field with a 27-24
upset win over #1 Texas snapping a two game losing streak to the Horns.
