MLB Playoffs, Fast Pitch and Fall Baseball State Tournaments Begin Tomorrow, & Volleyball Regionals Tomorrow

MLB DIVISION SERIES

The two National League Division series played Game 3s last night. In a series tied 1-1, The LA Dodgers got a brilliant pitching performance from Yamamoto in a 3-1 win in Atlanta over the Braves. LA took control of the series with a 2-1 lead. The San Diego Padres clawed their way back into the series with a 4-3 win against the Brewers pulling back to a 2-1 deficit. We’ve got a quadruple header today with all 4 series on the field. The Chicago White Sox lead the Cleveland Guardians 2 games to none in the series, but Cleveland leads Game 3 4-1 in the bottom of the 4th. The other American League series shifts to the Bronx and Yankee Stadium. Tampa leads the series 2 games to none ahead of tonight’s Game 3. Tampa will send Nick Martinez to the hill with the Yankees answering with Max Fried. That one starts at 7. We get Game 4s in the National League. Atlanta will try to force a Game 5 back in LA. The Dodgers will throw Tyler Glasnow with the Braves hurling Tyler Mahle. First pitch for Braves/Dodgers is at 5. The nightcap is in San Diego with the hometown Padres trying to force a Game 5 back in Milwaukee. The Brew Crew is throwing Robert Gasser. San Diego will pitch Walker Buehler. First pitch out in San Diego is scheduled for 9.

STATE TOURNAMENTS START TOMORROW

Fast pitch and fall baseball State Tournaments will begin tomorrow for classes 2a, a, and b. All the fast pitch tournaments will be held at Firelake in Shawnee. In the 2A tournament the Merritt Oilerettes are making their first fast pitch state tournament appearance in school history. Merritt will take on Warner tomorrow afternoon at 4. Down in Class A Canute’s Trojanettes start the day at 10 against Drummond. Following that one at noon it’s the defending champion AB Lady Indians taking on PPV. The 3rd game of the day features the C-R Lady Bears at 2 against Wister. L-S will get the Class B Tournament started at 10 against Pittsburgh. Leedey will play the next game at noon versus Red Oak.

The Class A Fall Baseball tournament will play the first two rounds at Shawnee High School before the finals head to Bricktown. Canute draws Battiest/Stuart in the first round at 1:30. Navajo will follow at 4 against Verden. The Class B tournament will play the first two rounds at Seminole State College before heading to the Brick for the finals on Saturday. FCB and Vici will get things started at 11. Leedey and Calumet will be the 3rd game of the day at 4

VOLLEYBALL REGIONALS

There were a couple of Volleyball Regionals that started today. Navajo beat Tulsa Central in straight sets 25-9, 25-5, 25-9 but lost to Regent Prep in straight sets 25-5, 25-7, 25-10. A bunch of the regionals will be played tomorrow. In Class 4A Wford’s hosting a regional. The Lady Eagles will take on Clinton in the first round. Bethany plays Cache at 4:30. Down in 3A at the Crossings Christian regional, Erick play Minco with the winner to play Crossings Christian. Canute will take on Hennessey with the winner drawing Chisholm. Corn Bible Academy is at the Southwest Covenant regional. They’ll play Harding Fine Arts at 10. A win gets a semifinal matchup at noon against The Academy.
