FAST PITCH AND FALL
BASEBALL REGIONAL RESULTS
We’ve just about finished up the Regional week in fast pitch
softball and fall baseball. There are still a few games left to be played today
and a couple will hit the field tomorrow. AB finally got on the field for their
Class A Fall Baseball Regional at Wright City. Today’s games were moved to the
turf at Kingston. The Indians have started well leading 7-0 in the bottom of
the 4th against H-E. If they are able to close it out, they’ll play
in the Regional Final for a spot in next week’s state tournament against Wright
City. The LumberJax edged Okarche this morning 1-0.
In another Class A Regional being played on the turf in Elk
City, the Canute Trojans face an elimination game against Am-Po. The Trojans
had a 5-2 lead in the top of the 6th. A win would put them a game
away from another state tournament appearance against Wister.
In Class B Leedey fell to Dover last night 8-0 in the
Regional Final. They’ll have another shot to make the state tournament this
afternoon against Red Oak.
On the fast pitch field up in Woodward at a 4A Regional, the
Boomers dropped a pair today to get eliminated by Byng. The Lady Pirates won
game 1 3-1 then outlasted Woodward 2-1 in 13 innings to advance to the Super
Regionals. Woodward’s ends a great season with a 25-4 record.
Down in Class A C-R’s a win away from next week’s State
Tournament. The Lady Bears will face the winner of Seiling and Union City.
Seiling led 9-6 in the 6th. C-R will have to be beaten twice in
order to be eliminated.
HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL
Tonight brings week 5 on the high school football gridiron,
week 2 of district games. The Elk City Elks head north on Highway 34 to
Woodward to face the Boomers. Elk City’s still in search of their first win
this season while Woodward’s 3-2, their best start since 2015. Elk City’s
dominated the series of late winning the last 4 and 19 of the last 24. Both
teams dropped their first district game a week ago and desperately need to find
a win tonight to stay in the race for a playoff spot in 4A’s District 1. If you
can’t make it up to Woodward tonight, we’ll have you covered with live video
streaming on bigelktv or the radio coverage on KOOL94. Pregame starts about
6:20 ahead of the 7:00 kick. Elsewhere in 4A District 1, Clinton’s at Wford for
the Custer Co Conflict and Bethany heads down to Cache.
The Merritt Oilers are back at home tonight for Class A
District 1 action. The Hinton Comets come to town with both teams in search of
their first win in the district. Merritt snapped a four game losing streak
against Hinton last year with a 40-0 win. If you can’t make it out to Merritt
tonight, no worries we’ll have you covered with live video streaming on
paragontv.com. Kickoff for the Oilers and Comets is also scheduled for 7:00. In
other Class A Dist 1 action, Sayre hosts Crescent, Fairview’s at Watonga, and
Tonkawa goes to Hooker.
Elsewhere in high school football tonight, Apache’s at
mooreland, Carengie hosts SW Covenant, Seiling heads to dewar, Mangum is at
Walters, MVG hosts Shattuck, Thomas hosts Empire, and last but not least Carl
Albert has a chance to make Oklahoma 11 man football history tonight. The Titans
travel to Noble with a 58 game win streak which is tied with Bixby for the
longest in 11 man history. A Carl Albert win would put them at the top of the
list of longest 11 man winning streak in history. Their streak is also the
longest 11 man win streak currently going in the nation.
