BASEBALL REGIONAL RESULTS; VOLLEYBALL REGIONAL ASSIGNMENTS ANNOUNCED
Another day another Western Oklahoma fast pitch softball
team has punched their ticket into the State Tournament. This afternoon the Leedey
Lady Bison qualified for next week’s Class B State Tournament with a 5-1
Regional Final win over Granite. Amalyn Switzer, Katelin Scott, and Ansley
Brown each had two hits apiece. Saidi Gore earned the win in the circle
throwing a complete game while giving up a run on 7 hits. She struck out 8 with
5 walks.
Down in Class A Regional action, the Cheyenne-Reydon Lady
Bears opened their regional this morning with a 10-3 win over Turpin. Caylee
Frederking had 3 hits and earned the win in the circle. Kimbo Denney, Emma
Bogges, Emery Vickers, and Kynlee Goad had two hits apiece in the win. The Lady
Bears advance to take on the Seiling Lady Cats this evening for a spot in
tomorrow’s Regional Championship game.
Plenty of Fall Baseball Regionals are on the docket today
with a couple finishing last night. In Class B the Vici Indians are headed to
the Class B State Tournament after a 10-4 win over Roff yesterday evening. Kruz
Gamble and Kashton Moss had 3 hits apiece. David Randall went the distance on
the mound for the win. It’s Vici’s first Fall Baseball State Tournament appearance
since 2020.
In another Class B Regional that started this morning, the
Leedey Bison are a win away from joining Vici in the Class B State Tournament.
Leedey handled Red Oak 7-3 in game 1 of their regional at Leedey. Kyson Adams,
Chace Mendell, Max Branson, and Wyatt McIntyre had two hits apiece in the win.
Rhett Humphrey went the final 5 innings for the W on the mound. Leedey will
have a couple chances to make the State Tournament starting this evening in the
Regional Final against either Dover or Soper. Dover led Soper 8-2 in the bottom
of the 5th at last check.
There was an upset in a Class A Regional this morning. The
Canute Trojans led Verden 8-6 in the top of the 7th before the Tigers
found 5 runs in the final frame to pull away and win 11-8. Canute’s now forced
to win two straight to get back to another State Tournament. The first one will
be tonight against Am-Po. Win that one and it’s a winner take all game tomorrow
between Canute and the loser of this evening’s Regional Title game between
Verden and Wister.
The final team to get their playoff run going will be the Arapaho-Butler
Indians in Class A Regional Fall Baseball action. The Indians are playing their
Regional at Wright City. The games today have been cancelled at Wright City due
to the rain. The Regional will start tomorrow either at Wright City or on the
turf field at Kingston. If the games are played at Wright City, it’ll be Wright
City and Okarche at 2 followed by AB and H-E at 4. If the games move to
Kingston, Wright City and Okarche will start at 11 followed by AB and H-E at 1.
VOLLEYBALL REGIONAL
ASSIGNMENTS RELEASED
Class 4A and 3A Volleyball Regional assignments were
released this morning by the OSSAA. In Class 4A, Weatherford will host Bethany,
Cache, and Clinton. In 3A Canute and Erick will play regionals at Crossings
Christian. Corn Bible Academy will go to SW Covenant. Tipton and Sharon-Mutual
will head to Casady.
