DISTRICT PLAY STARTS TONIGHT IN OKLAHOMA HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL

Week 4 on the Oklahoma high school football schedule historically brings the first week of District play. The Elk City Elks will try to get on track after an 0-3 start with the Cache Bulldogs in town for Homecoming. Elk City has won the last 5 in the series, but the Bulldogs sport a 3-1 for the first time since 2018. Come on out to Big Elk Stadium if you can, but if not we’ll have you covered with live video streaming on Bigelktv or the radio coverage on KOOL94. Pregame will get crankin around 6:20 with the kickoff scheduled for 7. Elsewhere in 4A District 1, Wford heads to Douglass. Woodward’s at Bethany. Clinton has the night off.

The Merritt Oilers went 2-1 in the non district which included winning their first two for the first time since they went to 11 man football. They’ll have a tough task tonight on the road in northern Oklahoma against the defending champion Tonkawa Bucs. If you’re not headed north no worries we’ll have you covered here as well with live video streaming on Paragontv.com. Kickoff for the Oilers and Bucs is also scheduled for 7. Elsewhere in Class A District 1, Sayre heads north as well to take on Fairview. Crescent’s at home against Watonga. Hooker comes down to Hinton.

PLAYOFF FAST PITCH & FALL BASEBALL

We’ve already made it to the playoffs in fast pitch softball and fall baseball. The weather played a little havoc yesterday, but there were some games that finished. In 2A fast pitch regional action yesterday, Frederick eliminated Sayre 6-1, Hobart hammered Meeker 24-0 and beat Cashion 11-1, Mangum handled Fairview 15-6 but lost to Dale 10-2, and Merritt won twice 8-1 over Watonga and 8-4 against Morrison. Down in Class A district tournaments, Canute finished Hollis’ season with a pair of shutout wins, 29 and 21 nothing. BFDC beat Seiling 6-5 but fell to Verden 8-0. C-R dominated FGFS 17 and 15 nothing. Navajo advanced with 3 wins 14-2 against Geronimo and two wins against Snyder 15-0 and 12-2. In Class B, Arnett’s district champs with 3 wins 20-0 over Goodwell and twice against Vici 14-1 and 14-4, Granite beat Duke twice 15-0 both times

There have been some results already today. In 2A regional action Hobart’s moving on after an 11-5 extra innings win against Cashion. Merritt’s also a regional champ with a 13-0 shutout of Morrison.

On the fall baseball diamond in Class A district tournaments yesterday, AB’s moving on beating Chatty 12-0 and 10-0, H-E won their district wins two wins over Porum 7-1 and 12-2, Navajo’s a district champ with two shutouts of B-O 16 and 8 zip. In Class B action yesterday, FCB won twice 13-0 over Earlsboro and 16-0 against Geronimo, Leedey won their district beating Goodwell 15-1 and L-S twice 13-0 and 9-1

So far today Hammon’s moving on with two wins against Arnett 10-2 and 9-1. FCB’s won their district also with a 15-0 shellacking of Geronimo

COLLEGE FOOTBALL WEEKEND

The first huge college football weekend is upon tomorrow and both in state schools hit the road to open conference play. At 2:30 Oklahoma heads between the hedges to Athens, Georgia to take on the Dawgs. Georgia’s unbeaten ranked 2^nd while the Sooners have stumbled out of the gates with a 2-1 start. You can hear it live on KOOL94 with pregame starting at 12:30 and the kick to come at 2:30.

Oklahoma State looks to make another statement in Morgantown against the Mountaineers. The Pokes have won their last 5 trips to West Virginia. A win would put OSU in the top 25 in next week’s poll. That one starts tomorrow night at 6. There are some monster matchups in the Top 25 tomorrow. At 11 in Knoxville it’s #1 Texas against #14 Tennessee. The 2:30 slate features #4 Ole Miss at #21 Florida, #17 Iowa’s at the Big House against #18 Michigan. At 6:30 we get #23 Texas A&M at #10 LSU, #20 Oregon’s at #12 USC. 6:45 takes us to Starkvegas with #19 Missouri at #24 Mississippi St.
