Weatherford, OK – A 24-year-old Weatherford man is in custody after a fatal shooting at a home on Texas Avenue Thursday morning.

According to the Weatherford Police Department, officers and medical personnel were called to 406 Texas Avenue at about 9:48 a.m. on Thursday, November 14, after a 911 caller reported that someone had been shot in the chest.

When first responders arrived, they began CPR and other life-saving measures. Despite those efforts, police say the victim died from his injuries roughly 30 minutes later.

Because of what officers found at the scene, the residence was secured and detectives and crime scene personnel were called in to continue the investigation. One person at the home, identified as 24-year-old Jonathon David Bridges, was detained and taken to the Weatherford Police Department for questioning.

After investigators executed a search warrant at the home and conducted multiple interviews, Bridges was arrested on a complaint of Second Degree Manslaughter, a felony offense. He was transported to the Custer County Jail and booked.

Police have not yet released the name of the victim, saying the identity will be made public after family notifications are complete.

Investigators say there are no outstanding suspects in the case and that the investigation remains active.
