Candidate Filing Begins For Board Of Education

Arapaho, OK – Candidates for the Board of Education in Arapaho-Butler, Clinton, Thomas-Fay-Custer and Weatherford Schools Custer County school districts will file Declarations of Candidacy beginning 8 a.m. Monday, December 1 2025.

Ann Brown, Secretary of the Custer County Election Board, said Declaration of Candidacy forms must be completed and submitted to the County Election Board no later than 5 p.m. Wednesday, December 3 when the filing period ends. Brown reminds voters that Contests of Candidacy must be filed no later than Friday, December 5 2025 and may only be filed by another candidate for that office.

If more than two candidates file for the same vacant Board of Education position, a Primary Election will be held Tuesday, February, 10, 2026. If one candidate receives more than 50% of the votes, that candidate will be named the elected official. If no candidate receives more than 50% of the votes, the two candidates receiving the highest number of votes will vie for the vacant position during the Board of Education General Election, April 7. If only two candidates file for the same vacant Board of Education position, those two candidates’ names will appear on the General Election ballot in April.

Declarations of Candidacy will be accepted for the following offices:

  • Arapaho-Butler School District, Office No. #1

  • Clinton School District, Office #1

  • Thomas-Fay-Custer School District, Office #1

  • Weatherford School District, Office #1

Declaration of Candidacy forms can be downloaded from the State Election Board website at oklahoma.gov/elections or by contacting your County Election Board office at 633 North 6th Street, Clinton, (580)323-5124 or custercounty@elections.ok.gov.

The Custer County Election Board is located at 633 North 6th Street and is open from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday (except 8-to 5 during filing period).
