Sayre, OK — We are proud to announce a vital partnership between Sayre Public Schools and SWODA (South Western Oklahoma Development Authority) to enhance emergency preparedness and student safety through the distribution of NARCAN (Naloxone Nasal Spray).

Thanks to the generous support of SWODA, Sayre Public Schools has received a new supply of Naloxone, now available in every classroom and school bus. This lifesaving medication is designed to reverse opioid overdoses and can be administered quickly and easily in emergency situations.

“We hope you never have to use it, but we are grateful that you have it in case of an emergency,” said DeShawna Symth, Coalition Coordinator. “We extend our heartfelt thanks to Sayre Public Schools and their dedicated School Resource Officer and Police Department for allowing us to partner with them on this critical prevention strategy.”

This initiative reflects a growing commitment to health and safety across the region. Organizations, churches, offices, schools, and businesses interested in equipping their spaces with Naloxone and receiving training on its use are encouraged to reach out.

Funding for the grants is the result of a settlement agreement between the Oklahoma Attorney General’s Office and prescription Opioid manufacturers, distributors, and retailers. Grants will be offered annually for the next 12-15 years. SWODA’s service area includes Roger Mills, Custer, Beckham, Washita, Greer, Kiowa, Harmon, and Jackson Counties.
