Alumni Weekend Raises Over $40,000 for SWOSU Football Program

Weatherford, OK – Dozens of Southwestern Oklahoma State University (SWOSU) alumni and friends spent a stellar weekend celebrating SWOSU Football Legacy weekend June 6 and 7, in Weatherford. Over $40,000 was raised to support the SWOSU football program over the two-day event.

The festivities kicked off on Friday with a dedication ceremony of the Steve Price #6 Lounge in Rankin Williams Field House. SWOSU football alumni were then treated to a 2025 football program overview led by Head Coach Andrew Rice, followed by a reunion mixer for alumni to reminisce and reconnect which was catered by Lucille’s Roadhouse. On Saturday, SWOSU football fans and alumni teed off at Prairie West Golf Club. Twenty teams headed out for friendly competition, followed by a lunch catered by Pecina’s.

SWOSU Legacy Football Legacy Weekend benefits the SWOSU Football program. The fund was established in 2015 by football alumni Dustin Wall, ’05, and Michael Hart, ’06, in partnership with the SWOSU Athletic Association. In addition to Wall and Hart, the Legacy Fund is guided by a Steering Committee comprised of leading SWOSU Football alumni and boosters. Notable alumni who returned to their alma mater for Legacy Weekend included Steve Price, ’83 of Marble Falls, TX, former NFL player, Carl Birdsong, ’83, of Amarillo, TX, and former NFL Coach Rex Ryan. ’87, of Brentwood, TN.
