Custer County, OK – The criminal case against Jah Malachi K. Banks, the man previously reported as claiming to be the Arapaho Police Chief during a March 9 traffic stop in Weatherford, has been officially dismissed.
According to new information, Banks was in fact the sworn Chief of Police of Arapaho at the time of his arrest. A legal notice sent to media outlets also clarifies several key points:
The vehicle plates on Banks’ Tesla were legally assigned during a vehicle transfer, in line with procedures followed in Maryland and other states.
The criminal charge that stemmed from the incident was dismissed on March 12—before the article’s publication.
The Pennsylvania licenses in question were expired but not presented to the officer. They were not illegal, nor were they the basis for any criminal charges. Additionally, the documents reflected a legal name change that was properly filed and documented.
Further, the Town of Arapaho does maintain a police department, with Custer County supporting law enforcement operations when officers are off duty.
