Weatherford, OK – Southwestern Oklahoma State University (SWOSU)’s LPN to BSN program has been ranked 2nd in the state for 2025 by PracticalNursing.org.

PracticalNursing.org evaluates programs across the country that offer pathways for licensed practical nurses (LPNs) to become registered nurses through both associate and bachelor’s in nursing (BSN) degree tracks. Programs are assessed on accreditation, curriculum quality, affordability, learning flexibility, student outcomes, and data from trusted sources such as IPEDS, the U.S. Department of Education, the National Center for Education Statistics, and state boards of nursing. This year’s list highlights programs in Oklahoma that help licensed practical nurses transition into registered nursing roles.

SWOSU’s LPN to BSN program stood out for its flexible, online structure designed to support working nurses while helping them advance their careers. The program builds upon the foundational knowledge of licensed LPNs and supports continued development in clinical practice, critical thinking, and professional leadership. It also prepares students for expanded roles in nursing and graduate-level education. The program is approved by the Oklahoma Board of Nursing.

The SWOSU Department of Nursing emphasizes hands-on experience, faculty support, and high academic standards. In addition to low student-to-faculty rations and strong licensure preparation, students benefit from real-world faculty experience and a curriculum designed to meet the needs of today’s healthcare system.
