Oklahoma City, OK – Merritt Elementary’s own Stacey Barker has been named a finalist for the 2025 Oklahoma Teacher of the Year, an honor recognizing outstanding educators across the state. Barker is one of ten teachers selected for their dedication and excellence in the classroom.

State Superintendent Ryan Walters announced the finalists last week, praising them as “the very best of Oklahoma education.” He highlighted their passion for student success and their role in setting high standards for educators statewide.

Barker, known for her commitment to creating a positive and engaging learning environment, was first selected as Teacher of the Year at Merritt Elementary before advancing through the district-level nomination process. She will now be evaluated by a panel of Oklahomans who will determine the state’s overall Teacher of the Year.

The winner will be revealed at the InspireOK event in July, where the top educator will be honored for their contributions to Oklahoma’s students.
