Wellington Man Sentenced For Sexual Assault of Child

On Tuesday, January 14, four pleas took place in the 100th Judicial District Court in Childress County, Texas.
One of those pleas involved a Wellington, Texas man.
In a press release, it was announced that 21-year-old Winfred Dale Lenz Jr. was placed on two years probation for the second degree felony offense of attempted aggravated sexual assault of a child.
Lenz was also ordered to pay a $500 fine, $340 in court costs, complete 1300 hours of community service, and register as a sex offender. If his probation is adjudicated, Lenz faces up to 20 years in prison.
Lenz was arrested by a Collingsworth Sheriff’s Deputy on June 23, 2021. Lenz was indicted by a Collingsworth County Grand Jury on September 24, 2021.
Luke Inman, the District Attorney for the 100th Judicial District, along with Assistant District Attorney Harley Caudle, prosecuted the cases for the State of Texas, with the Honorable Judge Stuart Messer presiding by assignment.
