Beckham Co. Inmate Charged with Weapon Possession

The Penny News 253

A Bessie man has been charged with possessing a weapon as an inmate and with malicious injury to property valued at less than $2,500. At the time, 46-year-old Tony Ray Glassburn was reportedly already incarcerated at the Beckham County Detention Center.

The investigation began on November 8, when a Beckham County Sheriff’s Office deputy spoke with the BCSO detention captain. The deputy learned that Glassburn had allegedly provided a weapon to a fellow inmate.

A probable cause affidavit described the weapon as a “sharpened weapon” approximately four inches long. It was reportedly made from a toothbrush, with torn playing cards on the handle, which was wrapped in string. The investigating deputy believed the string was likely taken from a mattress used by inmates. Upon examining Glassburn’s mattress, deputies found it appeared torn.

According to the investigation, the reporting deputy alleged that Glassburn had been in possession of the weapon for about a week before it was discovered. Glassburn is now being held on a $50,000 bond.
