The Penny News 210

A tragic motorcycle accident claimed the life of a 64-year-old Altus man on Saturday. The fatal collision occurred at approximately 4:35 PM on US-62 near the 55-mile marker, about five miles west of Snyder in Kiowa County.

The incident involved a 2000 Harley Davidson motorcycle driven by Roger D. Hendrix. According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, Hendrix was traveling westbound on US-62 when the motorcycle departed the roadway to the left for an unknown distance. He attempted to correct his course, causing the motorcycle to reenter the westbound lanes. The motorcycle lost control and went onto its side, continuing to slide down the roadway and striking its side bars on the pavement before veering off the road again and coming to rest on the left side of US-62.

Hendrix was pronounced dead at the scene by Tillman County EMS due to massive injuries. His body was transported to the Medical Examiner’s Office in Oklahoma City.

The condition of the driver and the cause of the accident remain under investigation.
