Weatherford, OK – Longtime western Oklahoma business Elk Supply ACE and Southwestern Oklahoma State University (SWOSU) have announced the establishment of a new scholarship fund to assist SWOSU students.
Elk Supply ACE currently consists of 11 ACE Home Centers located in Ada, Altus, Clinton, Cordell, Elk City, Mangum, Paul’s Valley, Sayre, Weatherford and Woodward. The company employs over 250 associates including many SWOSU students and alumni.
The Elk Supply ACE Scholarship Fund was developed by brothers George Browning and Jim Bob Browning, owners of Elk Supply ACE, during a visit to the SWOSU campus earlier this year. The Browning brothers and their families are the third generation to serve the lumber and hardware needs of Oklahoma communities.
“We are truly grateful to Elk Supply ACE and the Brownings for this generous scholarship support,” said SWOSU President Dr. Joel H. Kendall. “Our students will benefit tremendously from their thoughtful investment.”
The Elk Supply ACE Scholarship is stewarded by the SWOSU Foundation, Inc. The Foundation was established in 1977 to promote philanthropy, award scholarships, and distribute funds to support the activities and programs of SWOSU.
