SWOSU Alumna and Chicago Bulls Sport Psychologist to Speak with Students

The Penny News 1737

Weatherford, OK – Southwestern Oklahoma State University (SWOSU) students are invited to hear from Dr. Wendy Borlabi, a 1994 psychology graduate who works as a sport psychologist with the Chicago Bulls. Borlabi will speak by videoconference at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 28. The Department of Psychology will host the viewing in Room 202 of the Quanah Parker Center. All SWOSU students are welcome to attend.

Borlabi will discuss her education, her career and her current work in sport psychology. The conversation will give students a chance to hear how a SWOSU graduate built a career working with athletes at the collegiate, Olympic and professional levels.

In addition to her work with the Bulls, Borlabi founded Borlabi Consulting, a performance psychology firm, and serves as an independent consultant with the National Basketball Association. She previously spent six years with the United States Olympic Committee at its training center in San Diego. Earlier in her career, she established sport psychology services for student-athletes, coaches and the athletic department at James Madison University.

After earning her bachelor’s degree at SWOSU, Borlabi completed a master’s degree in kinesiology at Georgia Southern University and a doctorate in clinical psychology at Argosy University in Phoenix, with specialized study in sport psychology.

SWOSU offers a bachelor’s degree in psychology and five undergraduate minors, including sports psychology. Borlabi’s visit offers students an opportunity to learn about the education and experience involved in applying psychology to athletic performance.
