Burns Flat Man Charged After Allegedly Damaging Weatherford Hotel Room

Weatherford, OK – A Burns Flat man faces a felony charge and two misdemeanor charges following an October 13 incident at a Weatherford hotel that allegedly resulted in more than $1,000 in property damage.

Dustin Parnell Rose, 45, was charged October 14 in Custer County District Court with felony malicious injury to property exceeding $1,000, misdemeanor obstructing an officer and misdemeanor attempting to intimidate an officer.

According to court documents, Rose allegedly damaged a window and curtain at America's Best Value Inn in Weatherford by punching the window and tearing the curtain. Prosecutors estimated the damage at $1,050.

Court records allege that Rose became uncooperative following his arrest, falling to the ground and refusing to walk as law enforcement officers attempted to carry out their duties.

Rose is also accused of threatening an officer during the incident. According to the charging document, Rose yelled that he would get up and fight the officer and threatened to physically assault him if he were not wearing a badge.

Prosecutors also filed a supplemental information alleging Rose has a prior felony conviction. Court records indicate he was convicted of aggravated assault and battery in Oklahoma County on November 28, 2018, and sentenced to five years, with all but the first 120 days suspended.

The malicious injury to property charge carries a potential sentence of up to two years in prison, a fine of up to $1,000, or both. However, prosecutors are seeking enhanced punishment based on Rose's previous felony conviction, which could increase the sentencing range to one to 10 years.

Each misdemeanor charge carries a potential sentence of up to one year in jail and a fine of up to $500.

The case is filed in Custer County District Court under case number CF-2026-259.

The charges are allegations, and Rose is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
