Elk City, OK – Progress continues on the future Boomerang Diner location in downtown Elk City, with the restaurant now targeting an opening around Christmas.
During Monday night's regular meeting of the Elk City Commission, Damon Culver provided an update on renovations at 102 North Main Street, commonly known as the Snips Building.
Elk City Mayor Micah Kilhoffer said the project had slowed while Boomerang focused on hiring employees and securing management for the new location.
According to Kilhoffer, the restaurant has now lined up much of its staff, including a general manager, allowing work on the building to move forward.
However, the project has faced some challenges, including difficulty securing subcontractors, an issue the mayor described as common in western Oklahoma.
Kilhoffer emphasized that the anticipated Christmas opening is Boomerang's estimate and not a guaranteed completion date.
Despite the challenges, the mayor expressed optimism about the restaurant's progress and its addition to downtown Elk City.
Once open, Boomerang Diner will bring its traditional diner-style menu, including all-day breakfast, to the downtown area.
