Dill City, OK – A man wanted on felony warrants out of Beckham County was taken into custody Tuesday after authorities said he barricaded himself inside a Dill City residence.

John Torres Diaz was arrested Oct. 6 on outstanding warrants for sexual child abuse under 12 and rape by instrumentation, according to the Elk City Police Department. The warrants were issued in Beckham County District Court case CF-2025-00174.

Police said Diaz removed his electronic ankle monitor and fled following court proceedings. The Elk City Police Department Criminal Investigations Division then requested assistance from the U.S. Marshals Service in locating him.

On Tuesday, members of the U.S. Marshals Service, Elk City Police Department and Oklahoma Highway Patrol executed a search warrant at a residence in Sayre where authorities believed Diaz might be located.

Investigators later developed information indicating Diaz was at a residence in Dill City. Officers responded there with assistance from the Washita County Sheriff’s Office.

According to police, Diaz barricaded himself inside the residence and refused commands from officers. Authorities used less-lethal measures, after which Diaz surrendered and was taken into custody without further incident.

Diaz was transported and booked on the outstanding warrants.

The Elk City Police Department thanked the U.S. Marshals Service, Oklahoma Highway Patrol and Washita County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance during the investigation.

The charges against Diaz are allegations. He is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
