Elk City, OK – Paintslinger Bailee the Kid is killin' it in Elk City and across Oklahoma, leaving a trail of beauty in her wake.
Artist Bailee Green's latest masterpiece, "Mutualism," adorns the Elk City Carnegie Library's north exterior.
Green, whose company is BAILEE THE KID, created the murals on the Norman Silos in that city's Griffin Community Park.
And murals in Tulsa.
And Cleveland.
And Sapulpa.
She recently finished a Coca-Cola Cowboy mural in McAlester commemorating the 250th anniversary of America's independence.
Art is in her blood.
"Creation pours from me whether I want it to or not," Green wrote on her website. "It is a river I cannot dam."
While in high school, Green would draw chalk art on the streets of her hometown—Graham, Texas. The Graham Chamber of Commerce needed an artist to restore a historical mural, and locals told the chamber to "find the chalk girl."
They did.
The year after high-school graduation, Green told the chamber that she wasn't going to college because she couldn't afford it.
"They hired me over a handful of other artists to help fund my tuition," Green wrote. "Suddenly I had so many job requests in front of me and I realized I had a career within my grasp all along."
Now she has job requests from the east side of Oklahoma to the west.
The paintslinger's river of creation runs through Elk City’s library as she keeps on killin' it.
